Chemical ingredients and precursors of energetics and propellants comprise the fundamental elements for modern defense, aerospace and pyrotechnic technologies. These include fuels, oxidizers, binders, and specialized additives that can be formulated into solid, liquid and gel propellant systems.

In United States many of these base chemical precursors for energetics and propellants have been single sourced or imported from geopolitical revials, creating perilous vulnerabilities in missile and munitions pipelines.
